More great books to read

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

There are too many, but here’s a small selection of recent discoveries:

  • Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl
  • The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery
  • City of Thieves by David Benioff

On a less-happy note, the second book by Carlos Ruiz Zafon called The Angel’s Game was a major disappointment. It is difficult to believe that the same author wrote The Shadow of the Wind, which was absolutely great.

Great reading

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

I have read a couple of excellent books recently: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, and The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. These are truly excellent, and are definitely among the favorites.

So much news, but not on the Internet

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

I haven’t updated this site in ages, and the same applies for my blog(s). Ambissions have been too high, and there seem to be other activities taking up my time, such as life outside the Internet (yes, there is such a concept!), and work. I have been reading lots of interesting books lately, such as Special Topics in Calamity Physics, a couple of books by Nick Hornby, and a really exciting trilogy by the Norwegian author B.Andreas Bull-Hansen. I’ll find time to post entries about these, however for the time being, my digital life is secondary.

Additional blog. Apparently there may be two

I’ve got another blog at my.opera.com, which I also maintain from time to time. It is as though one wasn’t difficult enough. The new feature of this system is that it is integrated with Opera Mini 3.0, which allows for very simple picture blogging; all one has to do is log in from mini, take a picture directly from the browser, and it is automatically uploaded to the blog. cool!

Knowledge Management

Sunday, May 8th, 2005

In my current research I am focusing on the relationship between competitive strategy and knowledge management strategy, and at this point I am collecting data from management consulting firms. The research proposal follows the argument that in order to manage knowledge effectively, the competitive strategy must drive the knowledge management strategy, i.e. that there needs to be a relationship between the two. By conducting this study, my colleague Frida Eklöf and I are aiming to determine the types of knowledge management strategies that are related to particular competitive strategies.

New look

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2005

I’m now running the latest Wordpress software and the blog has a new look. I’m currently working on modifying the code to get everything to look the way I want.

Recent posts and CSS follies

Monday, December 6th, 2004

I have added a feature that displays the most recent blog posts on my website. Sometimes playing around with CSS is a real chore; it took quite a bit of time to position that box correctly. And in the end, it didn’t display right in Opera or IE. Firefox, on the other hand, displayed exactly what I wanted. Some minor issues remain, like resizing the window in IE, but that shall be fixed eventually. I must now leave the computer and do something socially productive - set up my neighbours ADSL connection :)

Blog

Saturday, December 4th, 2004

The weblog has been added. I am feeling quite good about this accomplishment. Hopefully I will start to use it and update the site more often. I have recieved many requests for a Pictures section, but I am honestly not sure whether I will make one or not. There is only so much of one’s life that should be available in the public domain. So it’s an issue of my privacy, combined with the fact that I really don’t want to go through my pictures and pick out the good ones.

The written word

Thursday, December 2nd, 2004

Several papers have been added to the Writings section. In fact, the entire section has been added. The site is slowly growing…

Reprogrammed site

Wednesday, December 1st, 2004

A brand new site with a somewhat new look. This time around I’m using PHP, CSS and XML to make things interesting. The drink database that was my pride and joy shall be put up in due time. It’s a matter of embedding the perl scripts that run in into the new php code and getting it all to work. In the meantime, look around and, if you’re prone to commenting, send suggestions.
